Saved wheels
This browser onlyThe general-purpose wheel
Every other tool on this site is this wheel with a specific job, a preset list and copy written for that job. This page is the one without an assumption baked in.
Paste a list of anything — tasks, book titles, recipes, podcast episodes, ideas, chores, exercises, board games, places to eat, questions to ask. Each line becomes a slice, and the wheel picks one.
It is the right page when your list does not fit anything else: it is not names, not numbers, not a yes/no, not one of the ready-made templates. If it *is* one of those, the dedicated tool is better — the presets and the options are already set the way that job needs them.
Working through a whole list
The most useful setting on this page is Remove the winner after each spin. With it on, the wheel becomes a randomised running order rather than a single pick:
- A to-do list in an order you did not choose, so you stop starting with the easy one
- A reading list worked through in random order
- A backlog of small tasks dealt out over a week
- A set of questions asked in a shuffled order
Spin, do the thing, spin again. The Results panel keeps the sequence, and Copy exports it as a table if you want the order written down.
If you want the whole list shuffled at once rather than one at a time, Shuffle under the list box does that in place — no spinning required.
Weighting a list
Lists often are not equal. Some tasks are more urgent, some options are more appealing, some items deserve more of the wheel.
Turn on Weighted choices and add a multiplier:
Write the first draft *4
Reply to the inbox *2 Water the plants
The draft now has four times the chance of the plants. The strip under the wheel switches to showing the total weight, and the result window reports the exact probability of whatever came up.
Frequently asked questions
How long can the list be?
Up to 500 items. Labels are drawn up to about 60 entries; past that the slices are still there and still fair, but the text no longer fits.
Can I paste from a spreadsheet or a document?
Yes. Any list with one item per line works — blank lines are ignored and each line becomes one slice.
Can I pick several items at once?
Not in a single spin. Turn on Remove the winner after each spin and spin as many times as you need distinct items.
How is this different from the decision wheel?
Same engine. The decision wheel is written for choosing between a few options you are weighing up; this page is for running a long list of items. Use whichever framing matches what you are doing.
Can I save a list?
Yes. Save keeps it in this browser and it loads from the Saved wheels panel next time.
